    Hi Tom initially I thought is B. arfakianum how do you differentiate between this 2, to me the shape and size of the flower almost identical very interesting, I got this plant still not yet blooming.

    I was told Bulbo. fritillariforum had pointed, thread like petal tip while Bulbo. arfakianum had round, ball like petal tip. I don't have Bulbo. arfakianum but I am sure there are some other differences, like plant growth, size...

    Patterned like a fritillary - yes - (we have an English native species - F.meleagris which is more or less patterned like this) but not actually formed like it, unless a nodding bloom counts as formed the same way.
    But quite remarkable - I can't think of any other orchid so nicely marked.
