Thanks, Angie. The tag definitely says Z. mackayi, and I've checked different pictures of it on Orchidwiz and the 'net - there are certainly some variations within the species, but mine fits with most I've seen.

Thanks, everyone. I've wanted a zygo from the beginning of my involvement with orchids, but have had 2 bad experiences with them, The two I have now seem to be thriving, and they bring me great pleaseure - and Phillip great photos!

Sorry Maura, no offence intended. I realize there are varieties even among species (Cat. purpurata, for example), but up until I saw your post, the only examples of Zyg. mackayii I'd seen looked something like this: http://www.orchidspecies.com/orphotd...opemackaii.jpg Even now, I look on the web (Don't have Orchidwiz), and while I've seen some photos with more solid colored petals and sepals like yours, I haven't seen any others with that gorgeous blue lip. Looks like you really brought home a treasure.

If I can keep it alive long enough to learn how to meristem it, I'll be happy to give out the results! Gotta get it awarded first, though.
