Default Bulb. A-doribil Super Star 'Ted Kellogg'

Eight inches from tip to tip, the dorsal petal has a long point. I moved this around for the cold weather and changed the light source. I thought I had one bloom and it turned out to be 2. Second bloom has not opened well. Dark red strips with a dead fish fragrance???

What a wonderful bulbo orchid bloom, Carol. I love the stripes. Have you seen the Candy Ann variety?

    cheers,

Your plant appears to be mislabelled. None of the species in the background of A-doribil Super Star (bicolor, lobbii, and echinolabium) have hairy petals. Your flower more closely resembles A-doribil Collin (Doris Dukes x echinolabium)

I'll try and research this more Mike, I purchased this from a well known grower who is a personal friend of Ted Kellogg, so I need a picture Ted Kellogg before making any changes. I don't really know the parents of this, Thanks for your help.

The verdict is in, the orchid was mislabeled, and is Bulbo. a-doribil Collin. Heard from the grower this am, I sent a pic of the label since there doesn't seem to be a plant by that name yet??? Of course changing its name makes it no less a beauty and certainly doesn't make it smell any better. This is one of the many things I love about this forum is there is always someone willing to help, research and find an answer for you. Thanks
