    Cymbidium lowianum
In Thai language common name, it means "parrot mouth"-this is what I translate the meaning of the word, I think because of the color; light green with red lips! although they were not in full bloom yet. He said this species is risk to extinction (as Paphiopedilum villosum in the next picture group I'll upload), so they have to artificially cultivate more & more and put them back in the forest.

I love to hear about the conservation programs that restock the wild. I'd thought of doing that here as well....lovely flower! I love cymbidiums and as soon as I get the one sitting in the greenhouse to rebloom i'll get a few more...I just love the big ol' things!

There'll always be room for them, when your orchid area can expand bigger & bigger with more and more new members.
For me, I buy got them first, then later think about the question "where to put them?" ^_^

Cymbidium is very beautiful, but unfortunately, not all the varieties can flower here where I live, at least the ones I post here and in my self intro forum; Cymbidium tracyanum & Cymbidium lowianum. It's the first time I know about them, while I was on the trip to Chiang Mai, but when I'm back home and searched some info about them on the website, there's the heat tolerant index for Cymbidiums, so there're only some varieties can flower here in the hot tropical climate.
I want to get one, too, now they become my wish list. ^_^ Such the inspire flower, I feel that with the photo of Cymbidium tracyanum taken from its side dimension, so gorgeous & elegant by its own. I tried to draw it on the paper, too, feel so calm & relax, it's the first orchid flower I've ever drawn. I'll do with other orchids, too, got a bit addicted now.

The Thai Royal Project is one of the most praiseworthy programmes ever to be launched to help deprived rural and minority ethnic groups.Cash crops and orchids and other flowering plants have replaced poppies on the Thai side of the Golden Triangle. All these done under the encouragement and patronage of the King and Queen.

nice cymbidium Lynn, at first glance you will surely imagine that it was a Parrot's beak.

Mr.Yew, it's quite a late reply for me to say, but I have to thank you for your good words of my country's Royal Projects. I'm so appreciated & impressed to hear that there're more people see the values of such projects, they're all good projects for sustainable development for both rural areas residental people & for the nature reserves. So glad to hear that from you. And just what I saw many people said you're splendid man, you really are!! ^_^
