Lovely! I've always liked this hybrid. I don't think I've ever seen a bad one.

Aside from standard catesetum culture, nothing special. It goes outdoors with the others for summer...as much light, water, and food as I can give it. Indoors when things cool off and the leaves drop...south facing window and a light misting occasionally during the morning with a fan very near. This is my first of the genera. I killed two spikes, so it should have had four total. Thanks for looking everyone!Posted via Mobile Device

Thanks jason....wonderful plant...ill have to make its meals heftier this coming summer. Get some nice fat pseudobulbs to see some lovely flowers like yours. .....one last question: Do you start increasing water drastically when you see new growths maturing or when it grows roots or once the roots are established? Kinda splitting it into three stages. I know this is a random question but it makes all the difference with these i find....If you dont know specifically then thought on the matter in general?....thanks for sharing

I never saw the last post until now! Sorry Andrew! Anyway heres a pic of where the plant is now in its growth cycle. I am still not really doing any real watering quite yet....just misting the new roots every morning. I don't know if others mist, but it works for me because I struggle with humidity. I increase the water in stages. This is my first full growth cycle, so I can't speak for anyone else!

I am also just starting to gradually increase watering on a some of my orchids trying to encourage the bloom. Like you I am experimenting, though being on the safe side myself. Hope this works out for you Jason. AL

This plant has finished blooming recently. The vegetative growth phase is fast, requiring lots of water and food. Once the pseudobulbs mature, watering is tapered off and the leaves drop...any water at this point is to be VERY carefully applied. This one bloomed a couple of months ago on two spikes...I would have had four on the one pseudobulb had I not been so liberal with water.Posted via Mobile Device

Thanks Jason. I have a Catasetum that has not bloomed this first season with me, has started new growth (leaves, roots and pseudo-bulbs). I probably blew it in terms of blooms this season, but I was going to increase watering to once a week for now. Any thoughts would be appreciated. AL
