Well after going off topic I forgot about the subject! I bought my Ceratostylis phillipinensis over here.
----vendor discussion removed - see faqs on posting----
The photo that was shown is below, very much the same but the flowers are fully open

I haven't had any plants from Italy but have from Belgium in the past and awaiting a few from Germany.

In the extremely unlikely event that someone is not "nice" to you, Geoff, there are OT members all over this planet who will bring them swiftly to justice and they will rue the day, etcetera, etcetera....

Okay, so now I've committed myself to an article on beginner's orchid photography (I think that's still the status) - with lots of solicited collaborators - a poll on where one grows one's orchids, and starting a thread about home growing. This last should, according to Geoff, receive far more posts than I had supposed, which would be both useful and mind-boggling. Oh, and I have about 16 more orchids to find place for and tend to the rest in my "spare time". "Retirement" is a complete misnomer; I have far less time to get things done these days than I ever did in height of my practice, running a household, raising children, volunteering, and all those other things that one does in one's careless youth. And I thought I was busy THEN????!!?!
