    Default Microterangis hariotiana or hildebrandtii?

I love this plant... tough as nails and, despite the teeny flowers, it puts on quite a show. At the moment, it has about a dozen spikes. However, when doing a little digging, I think the flowers might be too big for harotiana... these flowers are about 3 mm wide. Any help?Name: Chamharotiana2small.jpg

The plant and blooms may not be big, but both are still quite impressive. Those orange flowers are beautiful in color and form. AL

Wow David, what a great plant! I have Microterangis hariotiana and it is flowering right now, but it is much smaller than yours. Flower is the same size and color as yours, the leaf is about 6 cm and the racemes are about 30 cm long, it doesn't smell: I read that M.hildebrandtii has fragrant, yellow-orange flowers.

I grow this plant under the name Chameangis hildebrandtii - but after a little digging, I think you are more up to date than myself. I see that yours too has this curious habit of keeping yellowed leaves, which look as though they ought to come off, but don't - mine too. As to flower size, I have never actually measured , but I guess about 3 or 4mm would be right. I can't think of any other plant which is quite so prolific in the number of spikes it puts out. A real charmer ( to me) although I'm sure that if I took it to my Orchid Society they would all laugh at me.
