    Default Leptodes bicolor blooming

This is my first blooming of a Leptodes bicolor. It's nice when a mini has a nice bloom. This little fellow is mounted an a half round stick.

    Default Leptotes bicolor blooming

This is a miniature orchid that I've had for some time now - and it finally started to bloom - while I was on vacation. Fortunately, several of the blooms are still pretty fresh. It is, obviously, mounted, although I understand it can be grown in a pot. The blooms are about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long - fairly large by mini standards.

Thanks for looking. I'd be happy to have any suggestions about growing it better. (Translation - keeping it alive)

Okay...two of you have them blooming before mine. lol I'm going to have to go have a talk with mine! Those are such gorgeous flowers. I don't really treat these different much than the vanda I have hanging next to them. I do keep it a little lower down (closer to the ground), as I seem to remember they like it dappled and burn easier than a full size vanda. Mine is mounted and kept in a breezy area so they dry pretty fast. I want to say it is easy to grow...but then i'll go out and find my plant withering...so I'll just say so far it seems to like me.

CJ, I don't know quite what to say. I have had it a fair amount of time and all I do is mist it every day or so. Of course it spiked and bloomed while Maura and I were on vacation, but it did have a couple of flowers left. I wish I knew some secret to tell you, but all I have done is mist and keep it in a relatively shady place. The trick for me is going to be keeping it alive until this time next year, then we'll see what this thing will do.

Very pristine and elegant looking, which is something you see in the miniture orchids often. AL

Gorgeous colors on this mini! They look so different from other Cattleya alliance orchids and yet they can be cross bred.

Here are a couple more shots of the Leptodes bicolor. Most of the orchids we post are Maura's, even if I photograph them. She is a better photographer than I am though. It's rare that I have a mini or Angraecum to post, so you get a couple more shots.
