This is an Oestredella teraceros that I got at the Atlanta Orchid show last weekend. Actually it is several images of this cool plant. It is found in Costa Rica in wet mountain forests, It is cool to warm growing and takes bright indirect light to shadow type shade. I will find a good spot for it an keep it moist and hope it lives. This may be the coolest orchid I have gotten so far. I don't know if the photographs do an adequate job in showing how the spikes grow up then arch over for the bloom. It has grass looking leaves.

This was one of those purchases that occurred as the vendors were packing up and I was running around trying to buy all I could. Mayhem I tell you. Enjoy.

Phillip and Maura (I almost always feel like I'm talking to you both) My strategy.... get there early the first day of a sale if there is something that you have been searching for forever. You then go back late in the afternoon on the last day. Vendors do not want to haul their plants back. Great deals can be made

As I told you in person - these are fabulous shots of a VERY difficult orchid to photograph - and you did it!!! Kudos especially on the black and white - it has a flair and drama all its own. I so hope you can take that baby to the AOS judging session - it's stunning.

    Cathy,

This time it wasn't quit like that. At the end, these guys were packing their plants and accoutrement up, seemingly in a hurry to get out of there. I had already spent Friday and Saturday buying all sorts of flowers, baskets, tree fern bark, etc. When the end came, I was like a mad man. All the things that I had seen and had held off from buying, I suddenly ran around buying as the vendors were packing. I even bought things I hadn't seen in the show before. In short, I went orchid crazy.

You have excellent advice on what one should do. At present, I seem to be unable to follow that advice. I have been bitten by the bug and have come down with the fever. I just hope it isn't fatal. I now have so many species mini's mounted that it takes an hour to mist them all. I haven't counted them yet out of shame.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe one day I will be able to follow it. Have a great day.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the compliments. Thanks for taking the time to look, especially when the photo in the OT Lobby is B & W. I had a difficult time focusing on the entire plant at all different f stops. For some reason I couldn't get really sharp focus on anything in the entire frame. Not really sure what was going on there, but Maura tried it as well with the same results. A beautiful flower, but difficult to photograph is my only explanation.

    Thank you again.
