Endeavouring to learn more about my camera, just a few happy snaps taken today.

    Yew,

Thanks for the response to my second post: I've posted some photos in my first post that you may care to look at.

Currently I'm eagerly awaiting the flowering of cat. Portia 'Cannizaro', should be spectacular as it has 7 spikes. Photo from 2 seasons ago attached.

    Regards

    George

Beautiful Porcia! Been trying to get one for years. Saw a clump in a friend's garden - the plants had spilled out of its original pot and growing rampant on the bench - with more than 30 spikes !!! He has promised to give me a division if and when he gets around to dividing the clump; that was 3 years ago. But recently I managed to buy a pot with 5 p-bulbs from a nursery. Hopefully I'll get some blooms in the next season.

Please post pictures when your 7 spikes bloom. That should be awesome.

Hi George - welcome from Atlanta (GA, US)! Your photos are lovely; it looks as if you know at least SOMETHING about your camera and flower presentation. What equipment do you use? There are a number of photography experts on this Forum, as you will note when looking through various posts. I don't count myself among them, but I do put a lot of work into my photos - especially of my orchids - and have learned a lot about good techniques from those who have more experience. If you really want to work on your skills, let the members know and you'll receive LOTS of input.

    Hi Mauro,

    Thanks for your response.

I have a Nikon D700 and normally use a 105mm macro/micro lens when taking the orchid photos.

I will certainly use the forum for assistance.

    Regards

    George

Great shots, auction seller listings outhere will love stealing those off you. Could definetly do with a signature or other kind of personalisation to mark your identity and skills. Sharing and the respectful admiration of ones multi-faceted efforts has significant value, well it does here anyway! Dont be deterred if you clock your work elsewhere without recognition.

...........and Maura you AOS Queen! yes you are definetly counted as one among them, photos are tiresome and monotonous without effort.

Great Photography, and beautiful Blooms George. I am happy that you have also taken the time to include the Names of the Orchids in your photos. That is a big plus for me. It becomes very useful if one likes the Flower and wants to put it on the wish list.
I am not among the great or professional Photographers. I am still using my "point and shoot" so I guess I fall inot the catagory of the " tiresome and monotonous"
Congrats on both the flowers and Photos.
