Default encyclia noid... more gifts from the rummage sale!

i got a couple clumps of these from a vendors rummage box for under a US$ each months back... as some of yall know, i tend to do a lot of drunk gardening... well, in the middle of the night i had gotten the notion to put them in a planter box hanging off my balcony, an idea i got from an OT member's 'orchids in the landscape' post... i think at the time i posted something about my less than sober garden adventure in the general orchid care section and some of yall assured me i may not have made a huge mistake...
well, they LOVE it in that planter and are growin their little booties off! i got spikes all over the place and the first flowers opened today! dont know if the can be id'd or not, but i like em just fine!

I have my doubts that it's a species. It looks more like one of the encyclia/cattleya crosses. They've become very popular lately. In any case it's very pretty.

Shane, I think I know what the name of your plant is (maybe) It may be:epicat. Middleburg Major AM/AOS This encyclia cross is supposed to be purple & fragrant...Is yours fragrant? Betty

On second thought, it could be: epicat. Purple Glory "Moirs Pride" AM/AOS

cathy, i do drunk post quite often... i'm SOUTHERN dangit! but the multitude of posts was some sort of server issue, it kept timing out before it confirmed the post... and i, being sober (then) was impatient and clicked it a few times... fortunately i've had some shiraz and am able to use my computer properly now! ;-) sorry bout the excess folks! sundays are glitchy round my house...

i havent been doing my homework recently, but do the encyclia/cattleya crosses retain the big fat shiny round p.bulbs? cuz these sure do have em! hell, i think when i fished these out of the guys bargain box he may have even told me they were epi's and that they would be pink...BUT i also do most of my orchid shopping with a drink in hand (praise be for insulated mugs) and when you toss in heavy regional taiwanese and my slurred chinese... well, we could have been talking about boiled chicken feet!
