    Default Gongora galeata

I bought this plant last Sept' at a spring show. It was a 4 or 5 bulb division. I potted it into this basket as a semi permanent place. Its near doubled its size & has these 5 spikes coming open. To my surprise, it has another 5 spikes coming for a second round of flowers.

I not only love the color, Roy...But I really like the shape of the flower stems...The way they twist & turn is whimsical! Very interesting orchid...Betty

Love gongoras... I wonder if galeata can flower in hot conditions or does it need cooling?

According to the records, this comes from Mexico, 600 - 1800 mtrs in rain/cloud forest & is a Hot - warm grower. With this & the other Gongora I had years ago, I never grew it hot, always in a warm to cool environment. I can't see a reason it wouldn't grow hot if it had to.
