Default TINA is BACK! max tenuifolia nearing full bloom

tina has outdone herself this year!!! this max tenuifolia just keeps getting bigger! i'm going to have to special order or make a new basket after this bloom is over... little roots are finally poking through the bottom of the fiber mat of the basket... the smell is just amazing... i know size doesnt matter but i couldnt hep but take some measurements this year... 110cm wide and 120cm from the top to her longest hanging leaf tips... (roughly 3.5x4 feet) ...she's big! and ever so sweet! i loves my TINA!

tina reached her true diva status! she simply couldnt stay in her basket any longer and i couldnt find a bigger basket... so in my wine soaked state i uprooted an ancient bougainvillea (and my equally ancient vanilla) and moved her into a giant planter box... she took two strong men to mover her!! i'm just hoping the move doesnt affect her blooming this summer, but i seriously doubt it will cuz she, like her namesake, never fails to put on an amazing show!

it's funny, someone asked me what medium i was growing her in... when i took her out of her basket, much to my surprise, there was hardly anything left! the bottom half the basket was empty space! she is actually just growing on herself! once again, my advice for these is lots of sun and lots of water... seems they dont even need medium once they get a certain size!! i just throw handfulls of time release fert on her once or twice a year and she just keeps getting bigger! of all my orchids, i do take a lot of pride in tina, even tho i cant take any credit, its all her... she's now nearly 4 feet in all directions... never thought i would have such an impressive specimen plant that i grew myself from just a couple of p.bulbs, now about 7 years in the making!

Gorgeous specimen plant! Mine would be heart broken if I was to show it this photo. Mine has a truly rough life (seriously, it does) and so does not grow much at all. On the plus side, it is still alive. LOL
