Quite beautiful, It makes me want one knowing that it likes the cool in the winter and warmer in the summer. How high of a temperature can it stand? I noticed you said that Florida summers are too hot for it. I am in central Va. I grow my Phals in an unheated sunroom. They are thriving there. I wonder how one of those would do here. How long does the flower last? Thanks for sharing.

In general, it likes cooler temperature...it can handle the low 90s in the summer for a day or two, but constantly in the 90s, it will hurt this species bad.
Phals like shade and warmer in general but this one needs much higher light(like 3000FC).
The flowers last about four week, petty much like Cattleya.

Bravo indeed ; it is not the world's easiest orchid to keep alive, let alone flower.

Very nice. I have an example of this species, but it doesn't do much for me. I t has good light, and I mist it every day, but the last leaves it grew were slightly pleated.

A very extraordinary bloom. May I ask Tom if you must constantly experiment to get some of your more challenging and sensitive orchids to grow and flower? Thanks in advance. AL
