    Default Ornithocephalus cf. inflexus

I was given this as Ornith. gladiatus, but someone elsewhere provided information showing that to not be the case. From what I can tell Ornith. inflexus is a good match, but any confirmation or denial of that would be appreciated.

Very nice little species, easygoing and floriferous. I like the whole genus and highly recommend them if you ever run across any. Thanks for looking!

I love the shape of this beauty. Very very beautiful! If you asked me I'd say it is O.gladiatus

Thanks Shane and Branka! One thing I love about this species is the length and presentation of the spikes, they usually grow to 4-6" and straight out towards the light source.

Branka, most of the pictures online purporting to be gladiatus are actually of inflexus or iridifolius. The actual gladiatus is quite different-looking and apparently not commonly cultivated in the US and Europe. I got another 'gladiatus' last year in an importation from Colombia, and it bloomed out as another species entirely! Fortunately I also have a probable ID for that one and it wasn't one I already had; I'll try to post some photos soon. I'll see if I can find some online info on the true gladiatus to post or link to...
