    Default The Full Monti

Here's my little ray of sunshine...

the plant is only 1.5" high with the longest leaf only 2" long. The flowers dimensions are 1.25" wide with a 3" spur. Perfume is like vanilla with a hint of citrus.

    A. monticola was described by J Cootes and D Banks in 1998 after being deemed a separate species from A. philippinensis.

It is a native of the mountains of Luzon, Philippines and can be found growing at elevations of 1800 and 2200 meters.

    Cheers

Why Tim, it's lovely. Really charming, but how do you keep track of it amongst all your other 'chids? So small and delicate, like a little fairy. The fragrance sounds great too - aromatherapy the way it was intended to be.

Well, this one lives in my bedroom... next to my A. philippinense... which is on my bedside table.. can't get lost there

Tanya, what's the leaf span of your plant now? This took forever to develop from but to this half open flower.. but couldn't wait anymore... however, you can actually watch and see the lengthening of the spur.. way cool!

    Thanks for the feedback y'all.

    Cheers

    ok, now i gotta know,
    A. stands for angraecum? Aerangis, Ascocentrum?
Please help, I forget my abbreviations.
It's a lovely flower, but I can't put it on my wish list
    unless I know its name.

I think A. monticola is Amesiella monticola. Am I right?

By the way, I really like that flower! Very nice!

That's right Lily, and sorry for abbreviating the name Ennui...

    Amesiella monticola

If you do get an Amesiella, remember that there are only two species in the genus and the monticola is the more 'cold' tolerant species as it is the highland species whilst the philippinensis grows around sea level in the Philippines.
