    Default Bulbophyllum purpureorachis buds open!

I check every day when I get home from work to see if this one has made any progress...today I found the first two buds had opened. It is rather sinister looking as Brit (my OH) regularly points out!

With this species it's all about the spiraling rachis (inflorescence) rather than the flowers, which bloom sequentially.

Yes the rachis is its most attractive and interesting feature...I just love the tiny bobbing lips. The rachis is growing and twisting steadily higher. It's such a nice plant for decorating if you want architectural as opposed to floofy.Posted via Mobile Device
