Esmeralda bella

    Default Esmeralda bella

    As always 2 flowers but 2 spikes this year (buds are not yet visible).
    The beautiful lip is articulated (hinged ?) and moves if you blow on it. Very easy to grow (intermediate light, intermediate température) but not really easy to find.

    Great shots of a lovely orchid, Eric, but it looks more like E bella. We used to refer to this Genus as an Arachnis.

    The accepted genus for Kew is Esmeralda (a very beautiful name IMO). Thank you, Yew, for your "disturbing" but enlightening comment. Since 5 years, nobody told me that it was an Esmeralda bella.
    I read this thread on OT. I had never seen a comparative picture of these two species. Many thanks.
