This is a discussion on Masdevallia infract alba , or maybe albescens. within the Orchids of Other Genera IN BLOOM forums, part of the Orchid Photography category; I have not grown M.infracta for very many years - in fact only came back ...
I have not grown M.infracta for very many years - in fact only came back to Mazzies a year or two ago after an absence of almost 20 years. I did not remember it being repeat flowering from the same stems, but this one is. I do't remember any varieties either - they were always just plain reddish purple ; but recently I bought 4 different varieties from a reliable South American dealer, and here is one of them.
Of course the repeat flowering bit has a slight disadvantage, in that you keep the old flower stems on, waiting for another flower, and they do slightly spoil the look.
But I like white flowers, white mazzies, and this white infracta, whatever. Hope it finds admirers now !
Quite lovely, Geoff!
WOW! What a beautiful display. I have only one masdevallia orchid and the blooms grow so close to the leaves. I love the way this one blooms.
Gorgeous! I have a couple warm growers and have no idea what i'm doing with them. lol Perhaps if they survive my haphazard care they will bloom some day...and look amazing like yours.
I just loooooooooooove Masdevallias! And this one is so tall! What do you use for potting mix? Because it does not look like sphag, and that is what I read that I should use for them.
Pure and crystaline, just stunning!
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! I just mounted mine, but I guess they will get to dry a bit better, it was too mushy and I almost lost them! Made a thread about it, no answer, good thing you posted this pics
Have a great one!
