Sorry about the white spots - it's not the plague, but an attempt to cure it , or to be more exact it is "sluggit". I have had a few blooms ruined overnight - the chomping of slug and snail jaws keeps me awake (joke - although the damage is not a joke - the little so and so's have quite destroyed a compot of Rhyncho gigantea among thier other depredations...)). I really should wipe each little leaf, but I have been preparing plants for a big show at the week-end; my Society wants everything I have in bloom, and I just don't have the time to manicure every one ( more than 30 plants ) so they will just have to do that job themselves on anything that is visible, when the stand is put together. Since there will be a team of about 4 building the stand, and I think only 10 foot x 6 foot is provided/allowed ( not too sure aout the size, but I do know that all 18 societies are being given the same standard size) and they have all day to do it on Friday, that should not be a problem.
    The plants here:-
the large white/yellow is Masdevalia constricta - about 5 buds and flowers in a 2 inch square pot - which will give you an idea of the size of the flowers.
The small pink one - two pics of this, since the blooms hang their heads in modesty,is M.striatelli. Rather more flowers here - when they are all out - in a 3 inch pot.
Finally M.fractiflexa . 4 good flowers, and one a bit nibbled last night - hence the frantic spraying with the anti-slug stuff in case any of the things is lurking in a pot.

Oh they are lovely! And I am soo sorry for your losses Geoff! Have you tried the slug traps? The thing that makes them forget to feed? I might be completely out there, but it might be worth a try!

Good luck with the show, WIN AWARDS!

Thank you for that suggestion : i had not heard of these things, but searched for , found, and bought a couple.
I have used beer traps in the past, in the garden, and in fact was contemplating trying them now, but the difficulty of not wanting open saucers on the benches had me stuck. This might be a solution.i' ll see how i get on with them.
