    There's no other bloom quite like a Catasetum flower. Neat form and great color. AL

    Interesting bloom -- looks like it has a couple of fangs with a large tongue sticking out below them.

    It's certainly interesting! My OH mentioned Gene Simmons....are catasetinae closely related to the coelogynae? Is that even correct terminologae?Posted via Mobile Device

    I see where you are coming from - Coel. speciosa, and that hang-your-head look ; but the answer is no. As nearly related as any other orchid, and as far as away as any too.
    Specifically, Coelogyne are TRIBE Podochileae, SUBTRIBE Coelogyninae ; Catasetum are TRIBE Cymbidieae, SUBTRIBE Catasetinae.
