    Default Sarcochilus falcatus

More commonly known as the Orange Blossom Orchid, Sarcochilus falcatus lives up to this name by exuding the loveliest perfume during the heat of the day... although I was thinking more along the lines of peppermint...

Growing mounted on a piece of tree fern, it requires low light conditions but plenty of fresh air.

This is the first four of a twelve flowered inflorescence and another similar spike on the other side of the plant. Fingers crossed it opens the whole way in two weeks time for my local society's spring show.

    Cheers

Steve, the flowers are an inch up and down and side to side so fairly happy with it being pretty circular.

Matt, these are related to phalaenopsis and they have crossed the two genera to make Sarconopsis.

Diane, peppermint is hmm.. hard to describe... but it is yummy.

Thanks for the nice comment wolf.

    Cheers

I really like how stark white it is with the tiger stripes on the inside of the lip. You go nail 'em Tim--I hope they do great at your show!
