    Default Epidendrum hybrids

Just to share with you, I fall in love when I saw this colorful Epi especially the yellow lip with pink purplish column, I got a backed pbulb very small relatively very expensive but today I'm very happy it's blooms for me. I lost the tag, what I can recalled one of the parent is Pseudoepidendrum.

Epicattleya Rene Marques. the other parent is Cattleya claesiana. i have only seen 2 named varieties, "Tyler" and "Flamethrower" flamethrower has a less rounded lip, yours is probably "Tyler". i got 2 small 2" pots of it a year ago, and it has grown probably 16" tall this time, but no flowers yet.

Always found the texture of the lip on these intriguing -- feels like plastic.

Well done! I got one one of these (adult plant) a couple of years ago; it soon flowered but was a dud. It was labelled and sold to me as Epc Rene Marques but turned out to be a dirty-orange one-colour washout! NOT the eye-watering contrast of green/violet/yellow I craved. Clearly it was a waste seedling that should have been trashed; often nurseries here will pollute the market by releasing sub-standard seedlings... this was just the most extreme example (actual fraud). So after flowering it once more to make certain, I trashed it myself. O well, that's life!
