Hi Igor thanks I got it from my friend when he came back from Santa Barbara a couple of years ago.

I agreed with you I got this species too the color even darker than in Jays Orchid Encylopedia the flower very big as compared to ciliata.

Aha! Well that seems to be quite a source! (What don't they have?) And yet they don't bother with CITES so I can't order from there... can you imagine my grief when I look through their site: I feel like a penniless child looking in the sweet-shop window! I cannot blame them, I suppose... the home market must be plenty big enough, so why bother with orders from abroad? They are a business, not a charity, after all! So: hard cheese for old Pindar, eh! So I'm extra glad you got this plant! Spread it around, if you can, amongst your countrymen.

Congratulations, Zainal... You don't let the grass grow under your feet! Excellent: looks like you will be an uncle thousands of times over. Let us hope it all goes well! Thanks for making me happy with this picture... this news is a very nice Christmas present.

Modern hybrids are nice, but I think species orchids like yours, Zain, are much more interesting, and there is more diversity and even fragrance.
