Neat to get both flower sexes on the same spike. Have those females been pollinated? The thickening behind each of the females' floral parts makes me curious.

With "Batman" as part of the name, I was expecting black flowers.

Your first pic is enough to make me want to go out and throw away all my catasetums in case any should look like this...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - mine is quite empty !
    And that from over-feeding ?
Maybe I'll just throw away all the feed.
Did you really set out to shock us, or perhaps you didn't think of the consequences ?

Cool! Catasetums are quite interesting! Male AND female flowers on the same spike is a relatively rare occurance right?

haha,,,,no intention to cause a Christmas shock but as you said it, beauty in the eye of the beholder but i agree with Bruce and Zainal, strange and beautiful at the same time. i think i will continue to feed as i am more interested to get a fat plump bulb than a skinny one.

thanks, i did some of the pollination with refrigerated pollen as what you and other member in the forum suggested. so far seems like the pod is developing well.

rare but not uncommon in the same time. somehow this plant and another plant of mine had been doing this for two consecutive cycles

yeap, all five of them had been pollinated and seems like there is a take in all five of them. i made the following cross (YYB = yum yum batman)
    YYB x tabulare
    YYB x saccatum
    YYB x tenebrosum
    YYB x denticulatum
    YYB x integerrimum

well, i guess it is the sepal and petals than is hanging upside down, resembling the cloak the batman is wearing. here is another form of ctsm YYB, this one is taking the form of the sanguineum parents. see if you see a 'batman' in it.

Still a bit of a stretch but doable with LOTs of imagination. LOL Surprised how much color those female flowers of that other form of YYB has. All the female flowers of ctsm I have seen are just green from what I remember.
