    Default Eria sessilifolia

    Hi,

this species is relatively new to us and was perhaps mistaken for Eria javanica, for a good number of years i guess.

The twisted angled ovary is the outstanding feature here.

    Cheers!

Nice Ron how do you differentiate between javanica and sessilifolia?

    Hi Zain,
just look at the unique ovary. Also the flowers are smaller than on Eria javanica, and for me the pseudobulbs are clumped, rather than producing rhizomes.
Funny thing is, we still don't know what a javanica looks like, there is no holotype available, so we were just comparing what we "think" it should be E.javanica.

I agree with you Ron here in Malaysia I saw these species regularly in central Pahang West Malaysia, I only know one species Eria javanica endemic here by observing the nature of the leaves and growth habits with long inflorescence with similar pattern of flower, I never observed in detail maybe for the future will take close picture if I see the plant in blooms, I also got one species from Borneo with similar character with spike more than 4 feet unfortunately no bud noted.
