This was formerly called Anacheilum janeirense ; this is a seedling , first flowering. According to IOSPE it can/maybe even will ! do much better than this with a spike up to a foot long, and I suppose rather more flowers. Again a 9cm - 3 1/2 inch pot . Quoit heavy substance in the flowers, should last well. Interesting b;lack colour only on the front of the petals, they are just pale green behind.
I imagine it comes from Mexico and is related to Encyclia - but on further thoughts, I wonder if it is South Americn, and janeirense has something to do with Rio . and it is an oncidium group plant... must dig deeper, when I have caught up a bit, but I am just back from a month cruising.
Love the color on this, can't wait to see it as it gets bigger.
First time I have ever seen or heard of this one. Neat!
