A flabellata x A houlletiana . Another seedling, first flowering, this one in only a 3 inch pot, which makes it quite a small plant to be flowering at all. But nice to see what it looks like !.

Very interesting bloom. Is the coloration of the leaves normal?

The most recent ones, with the brown freckles are typical of vandaceous plants which have been in good light. The lowest , clearer and paler green are typical of ones which have been in poorer light. ( I do move plants around according to how they are growing, and when I think they need it )
The yellowing leaf will die - older leaves do . Some fault in culture here, I have to admit, since this should not happen for some time yet. But on further thought I think I can pin it down ; one day last summer I was in hospital, and by an awful coincidence, the heating thermostat failed so as to leave the heating full on, when it was a a warm summers day - and when I came home, and went and looked at the greenhouse I was horrified to find the temperature up to 42. I lost a few plants, and in other cases lost a spike or a leaf - they all ( spikes and leaves) have a critical point in their development when they wont stand excessive heat or cold , and when they are past that point , are better able to stand such things.

    Default Aerides Pramote

I think I may have posted these pictures before. Here are pictures of my Aer Pramote - a mature palant that blooms about 3 times year.
