    catasetum ciliatum, a.k.a discolor depends on the country it is from. mine is still a small plant and this guy can grow!!

    these are male flowers, i hereby attach a pic, the two yellow line indicates the trigger pollina. the ciliatum trigger pollina is short and broad, just like a pair of vampire fangs. same goes to its relatives like the gardneri and longifolium.

    Thanks, Ian. It's that hood/cowl shaped lip I think which throws me. It's something I associate with the female flowers.

    always look for the trigger pollina, they are absent in female and true female flowers are mostly green, and if i recall correctly, none of them with fimbria/cilia
