    Default My Two Unidentified Oncidiums

I have two kinds of oncidium.
The first one (see first two photos with the yellow hibiscus) is the bigger of the two. Flower spikes are longer and tend to branch.
The second one is a smaller plant, with shorter spikes and fewer flowers.

    Both are attached to trees.

The first one looks like an onc. sphacelatum.

Thanks Zainal. I looked it up and it does look like an Oncidium Dancing Lady... thank you Zainal. I was a bit confused at first because all the locals here refer to the oncidium as the "Dancing Lady" regardless of what type it is. Nobody ever uses the term Oncidium except maybe the big nurseries.

Hello Carmen. Thanks for that. I looked it up on the net but the Oncidium sphacelatum's brown markings are much more solid compared with those on my orchid. Mine seems to be the Oncidium altissimum or the Dancing Lady, as Zainal suggested.

    Default Oncidium altissimum

The yellow hibiscus is spent. But the oncidium will last for weeks.

I think it is Onc Golden Shower - Gower Ramsey has a wider skirt.

Which one of the two Yew? Are you referring to the first 2 photos or the 3rd and 4th photos? The one in the first two with the hibiscus is also the one in my later post which I entitled Oncidium altissimum.

After looking more closely at the pictures I would say the one with the hibiscus. Of Course I could be wrong seeing that there so many yellow lookalikes.
