To say vanda unlikely as the leafs presentation are so different.
Thanks Zainal. OK I will wait for the flowers to come. Gosh, how I wish nature provided a shortcut for this. I was never very good at waiting for so long.

Angel that ten plus years has to do with growing a fairly large plant. Blooms can come much sooner. AL

Mine bloomed this week in St. Croix, Virgin Islands! Like yours, this is a family heirloom. My mother grew it and gave me a cutting. It is a beautiful reminder of how I got hooked on orchids, almost 40 years ago.

Al, thanks so much for your comforting words. I am quite relieved. By the size of my orchid, I reckon it will be another two years at the very least before I see any flowers.

Four decades. Wow! It is wonderful to know how a simple orchid can touch you so much, enough to start a lifetime passion.

Sorry for this very late response, Zainal. September to early December is usually the busiest time of the year for me at work so I haven't visited the forum for some months now. Also, I almost couldn't find where in my laptop I saved this photo. Well. you were right Zain, the sight and smell of this aerides always wows me. And the one growing right next to it also bloomed this past month.

Very nice Aerides Angel-looks healthy and growing well-i have about 20 Aerides of 3 different types and all do well in nearly full sun all day-Just a pity the flowers don't last too long as the fragrance is beautiful- be nice to chat with you as to the types of orchids you have and where get them--here in Cebu its hard to find a good variety.

Hello Michael. Mindanao is home to the Aerides lawrenciae so it's easy to grow them here. Mine grow in the shade, getting very little sun, dappled at best. I have another another Aerides that hasn't bloomed yet but I think it's different because the leaves have a forked tip. My nephew just plucked it off a tree on our land in North Cotabato, near the foothills of Mt. Apo.
