So happy with this years show. But I have never smelled any fragrance. Am I trying at the wrong time or is it my sniffer?

Wow - my Enc. tampensis went through a rough period when I was away for a month. It's on a tree, I see -do they prefer to be mounted? Mine's in a basket. Is this the time of year that this species blooms, or does it vary? HHow much direct sun does it get?

This orchid is native to my area and I literally do nothing to it except pray when there is a hurricane threat. It actually survived Andrew in Miami at my dad-in-laws home. It gets a short period of direct sun in the morning and dappled the rest of the day. I have another smaller one on the robellinis at the other end of the pool and it doesn't produce as well because there is less sun. I believe the plant likes to connect with the tree but I am definitely no expert.

Very nice! I have a young tampensis in bud...4 buds...but they have been in bud stage for a good month now....I'm starting to worry that the buds will not open. I don't even see a slit yet. Is this normal? Thanks!
