zainal...Huntleya meleagris is native to my country and is very rare and its a lowland species...since you have the knowledge of cultivation do you mind sharing? most people who have collected it say it doesnt survive...i would like to flask it but in order to do that i have to ensure it survives when i do collect it..the forests are disappearing gradually...logging,fires,quarrying...the price of progress....your help would be appreciated

Nice to hear that it's native to your country that I love these species so much as the flower lasting and so pretty like a star. Here in Malaysia I use a combination of coconut chips and fern fibers covered with small amount of sphagnum moss to maintain the humidity, they do love bright light and if possible try to make sure at roots level always moist but not wet as many growers founds that it's very difficult to grow and end up with roots rot. So far I dont have any problem with varieties of burtii, vargasii wallisii and in fact few unknown species still haven't bloom yet. These species very susceptible to develop brown spots on the leaves by spraying some fungicide usually it will work remember meleagris the rhizomes very long as well as the plant too be prepared, so you need bigger space for him.May your conservation will be progressed very well looking forward the outcome.
