    What a beautiful species! I was triggered bij the name aeolium and wanted to know what is means and bumped into an answer in a forum from a Jim, which I would like to thank for the answer!

    -----------

    Hi Seck,

    Thanks for the new picture which is also B. aeolium. I look forward to seeing other pictures of these beautiful species.

    The epithet aeolium means variable, as in colouration.

    As I understand it Bulbophyllum sociale is a synonym of B. uniflorum. But Garay, Hamer and Siegerist list B. sociale as a valid species. I have never seen a plant I would consider to be B. sociale.

    B. uniflorum v. pluriflorum is a synonym of B. aeolium with the latter name being the oldest validly published epithet and therefore has to be used.

    Both species belong in the section Pahudiella, which was created by Garay, Hamer and Siegerist in 1994, for that group of plants related to B. uniflorum.

    Members of the section are:

    B. subumbellatum type species for the section;
    B. aeolium;
    B. hewittii;
    B. monstrabile;
    B. ornatum;
    B. sociale;
    B. uniflorum;
    and
    B. variabile.

    All the best,

    Jim

    Nice flower, very nice indeed and I've yet to land myself one of it. I do have quite a number from this section.
