Default Four Shades of Arachnis Maggie Oei

My arachnis are blooming all over the place. When I bought them, only one was in bloom. Now I notice four different colored clones. I know I have a pure red one but it isn't in bloom.

Here are more photos. The arachnis have stolen the show from the usual semi-terete vandas and dendrobiums.

Very nice collection, Angel. The yellow Maggie Oei is var Yellow Ribbon and and the red barred one with purple lip is the var Red Ribbon. Arachnis Maggie Oei is Arach hookeriana x Arach flos-aeris var 'gracilis'. Arach Maggie Oei 'Yellow Ribbon' is often confused with Arach flos-aeris var 'gracilis'. It is difficult to tell them apart, in my experience Maggie Oei has stouter and more erect stem and more free flowering than flos-aeris 'gracilis'. There is another darker variety called Maroon Maggie. Another very interesting Arachnis is flos-aeris var 'insignis' which is dark chocolate - almost black but is harder to bloom than than the var 'gracilis'/

Really exotic looking Arachnis! They look rather spider like, which is fitting! I particularly like the flowers on the specimen showed in the bottom right photograph of your first post.

You're right Kate. Arachnis lend an air of exoticism to any garden. It also makes me feel that some part of the wilderness simply walked into my garden and settled there. The one you like is, as I have just learned from Yew Sung, is the Arachnis Maggie Oei Red Ribbon.

Wow. I just copied and pasted this comment and saved it so I can have it for quick reference even without an internet connection. Thank you so much, Yew Sung. How I wish you were my neighbor so I can just ask you over the fence a thousand and one questions. The third one from the top has a greenish tinge and the lip is a pale pink. Maybe it's a Red Ribbon that needs more sunlight?

Now I'm just waiting for that elusive medium red one. It last bloomed 4 years ago and is not as robust as these ones in the photos. I made a top cutting of it a month ago and transferred it to a sunnier spot. The stem is much thinner than the ones featured here.
