    Darn it!

I had said to myself, "No more orchids right now, especially, no more grocery store orchids".

    So what happens?
I go to the grocery store to shop for food and low and behold they had a new shipment of orchids with miltonia for the first time. I didn't have a single miltonia yet. So of course, I broke both resolutions and I haven't even made it to the New Year yet.

This miltonia, like many from the grocery store, came without a tag. I did talk to a woman who worked in the floral dept and mentioned that I hate that about their orchids. She said she would ask the distributor to add tags. I am not holding my breath!

It is not quite yet in flower but the buds are days away from opening. I expect it to be scarlet/burgundy with spots inside.

Here is the budded plant. Open flowers picture coming soon.

What fun! If you buy it BEFORE Jan 1st, it doesn't count against your resolution, right? It looks like a nice happy plant, enjoy and share pictures when it blooms.

This is the open flower for this Miltonia. It isn't what I expected. Expecting what I understand is called 'waterfall' inside.

Actually it has 4 spikes. And I agree! My grocery does have some decent orchids (it was grocery store oncidiums that got me going on orchids). I am waiting for a oncidium to end up in the bargain section. Its flowers are fading and if I wait a few more days, I think I can get it for $3.

I just noticed that it has a light, spicy, sweet scent to it.
