    Default Stanhopea embreei

This nice little one was purchased online as a seedling, and it flowered for the first time this Summer. It has a delicate perfume - not so strong as nigroviolacea, but in that same vanilla range. I had to wait 6 years for it, and worth it.

Lovely! And 6 years was worth the wait. Orchids do teach us patience.

Thank you, cattan. I also have a new little plant of S. lietzii, but that won't be flowering for a long time.

They are such forgiving plants, which is just as well when you have to live with me. I'm sure that you have to be ultra-methodical to reach the heights of orchid culture,

and I'm not OCD enought for that. However my plants mostly seem to flower for me, and my shadehouse in August and September is just lovely with all of the Den kingianum hybrids

    showing me their colours.
