    I believe my Galeottia negrensis is in spike now. I looked at the spike under a magnifier and it isn't a root.

    Unfortunately, after further study, not a spike. But there are 2 new growths in progress so I can still hope.

    Harvey the spike always arises from the new shoot not the old bulb so you will have a chance to have a spike if your plant is mature enough.
