    Default Bulbophyllum smitnandii (First Blooming)

This was love at first sight when I saw it on line though the photo I saw and the reality are somewhat different. I've had this Bulbo for over two years and it's two blooms/buds are a first. ALName: Bulbophyllum smitnandii 019.JPG

Cool looking plant. And the flower is also cool.

Does it smell? That has been my reason for not having any. I don't really want one that reeks! LOL

Early this afternoon I did not smell a thing, though I had my nose real close to the bloom. AL

What a cute. I hear that smaller bulbo doesn't stink that much?

Noticed you have it in S/H and some of the plant is not on the surface. Did you start with all parts of the plant on the surface. I just transplanted mu Bulb and managed to have the entire plant covered, Please give me advise. I do not want to use, the plant. Considering cutting it in half.Name: IMG_1197.jpg

No S/H and it's in medium and fine orchiata bark/perlite. There is no way that bow that points upwards could be buried without burying some of the leaves nearly entirely (not a good option). Since even when I got the plant bending it would definitely break it in two I did as the plant was inclined to do. By the way all the bulbs and leaves are above the media. I water every two days during the growth periods (spring and summer). I water a bit less in winter. I'm afraid I have no experience with S/H...................... AL
