By the way. I gave the blooms the smell test during the early evening today. If there's a scent its faint. ALName: Grammatophyllum Multiflorum (More Blooms) 013.JPG

A nice example of an under-appreciated species that gets lost in the fog of Encyclia.

One of many former Encyclia that never really fit within the original concept of that genus, but were crammed in anyway in 1961. Prosthechea was proposed in 1998, or Panarica in 2004. Posthechea for lumpers, Panarica for splitters, but it really doesn't fit Encyclia. Kew accepts Prosthechea.

It is blooming for me too and putting out new growths. got it from a show in NJ from a Taiwanese vendor that has nice species. Mine is growing well in pure clay pellets in a net pot wedged into a plastic pot. I may bet another spike from another growth. I got 9 flowers from the spike, but I have seen photos with fuller spikes. I detect no scent.

I call it Panarica, seems quite different from Encyclia and from Prosthechea...

I just repotted this orchid on 4/16. They do not like repotting, but even with the spike it seemed necessary and longer term benefical. I have it in Orchiata medium size bark and perlite. I have given it TLC to save the blooms and seems to of worked. May I ask about when your new growths started Stefano? I'm still waiting for mine to do something. AL

Mine seems to have been growing all along since I got it last year, although now seems faster. the pseudobulb with the spike has a new pseudobulb growth. It seems from your photo that yours seems to have a climbing habit, the one I have seems to grow close to the medium. For sure it seems to want a lot more water than Encyclias. I am happy it flowered.

Prosthechea is a diverse genus, including everything others might put in Anacheilium, Panarica, Pollardia and more. If you look at a little of everything, not just the former Anacheilium like Psh. cochleata I think it fits in just fine.
