Default Catasetum Penang and my gigantea

This catasetum Penang of mine had been severely scorch by the blazing sun, the leaves are severely wounded and the flower did not open up as it used to be. most likely due to the extreme heat of recent. the same goes for the phalaenopsis gigantea. the petals did not stretch as widely as the last season.

I need to take the plunge and buy a gigantean. I just love the flowers and hey...like the greenhouse doesn't have enough big boys to overwinter. lol That's a joke for those that don't know me I love huge orchids...it's an addiction almost with me. Your flowers are beautiful!

the lateral petals are still about the same, perhaps it is really too hot for them, and also my bad for insufficient watering due to hectic schedule in this month

sorry to hear about your lost. just keep them bone dry during dormant phase. i usually spray them with fungicide just before i transport them to the "dormant shade".

well, that makes two of us. i too have an addiction for big orchids, those with big leaves. thus the phalaenopsis gigantea and also the macrobulbon series of the bulbophyllum. but too bad i only had bulbophyllum phalaenopsis so far, the others seems to be way out of budget so far (unless they bear the name catasetum in front..hahaha)
