    Cool Gastrochilus japonicus- 1st Rebloom

I bought this last November, in spike. It bloomed in January. It is now in full bloom again for me. Only 5 blooms this time but I am OK with that total. Also there is a new growth. Or is it a keiki on this type orchid?

Lives in my 10 gallon orchidarium.

I've thought about getting one of those many times. They are cute. Congrats on the rebloom.

As I understand it, japonicus is not fragrant but one that looks identical is Somae and it is fragrant. It never occurred to me last blooming to sniff it. And I was in a hurry when I took the pics and neglected to sniff again. Tonite! will be the sniff test night (well, this afternoon. Many only are fragrant for portions of the day).

Sweet Harv, is that the average bloom cycle? Would love to try one. Talk about roots, eh? Lucky you, T

IOSPE indicates it is a Fall bloomer. Not quite my experience yet.

So far it has flourished under my care.
