    Cool Cochleanthes flabelliformis

I bought this Cochleanthes flabelliformis in early March. It has put on 4 new growths this season since purchase. This is the first of what I hope are numerous flowers. I see 3 more buds growing in other leaf axis on this new growth. This is the most mature of this seasons growing.

This has a single flower per inflorescence that is short lived. I don't know yet what short lived means in days as this is my first time seeing this in person in flower. I grow it with basically phal culture.

Also supposed to be fragrant but I have not yet detected a scent. But it is not fully open yet either.

Maybe when I get home today. I will add more images as soon as it opens more.

This plant seems susceptible to spotting. I have a 2nd Cochleanthes from Ray on its way. I will keep them apart for now. I don't want to spread the spotting.

Be patience Harvey the flower still not fully open and then you can have very wonderful scent later so nice and sweet in optimum condition it may last about 2 weeks.
