    Default Zygopetalum

Am very pleased that this has re-flowered! The colours seem to be much darker than when when they were first bought... Is there any specific reason for this?

Changes in temperature are one of the main factors in the color of orchids. I would love to be able to get one to be that dark but I suspect it got slightly cooler temps. When my cattleya are allowed to stay cooler the colors in the flowers are so much more vibrant. I love the color of this one...great job!

Lovely! I concur with Connie - cooler temperatures could explain the colour intensity. I notice my Rhy gigantea s this year have more intense and vibrant colours and I attribute this to the cooler weather we have this year.

Thank you all for your kind and encouraging comments - useful to know the reason! I love the intense colours too although the variegation that comes through with the light colours is also pretty in itself also... It does also have a lovely delicate scent!

Hi Eeyore! Wonderful orchid! I am wondering whether I can grow Zygos here in the hot lowlands here in Malaysia... Are you staying in Singapore or in Hong Kong? I see that your location is in Hong Kong but your flag is a Singapore flag... ;-)
