    Default Orchids in a friend's garden

    Visited a friend a few weeks ago and saw these gorgeous orchids... not sure what they are... is there a way of propagating them (so I can get one )?

    The orchid in the top photo looks like a rhynchostylis. The bottom photo is that of an oncidium.

    Yes first one is Rhynchostylis gigantea and 2nd one is some complex oncidium hybrid. Propagation for both orchids are mostly from divisions. Rhynchostylis gigantea is a slow grower and would take years for it to produce a sizable plant to divide. Oncidium on the other hand can be divided when the number of pseudobulbs are more than 5

    Thanks for the IDs... Too bad about the unlikely production of divisions for the Rhynchostylis....
