    Purchased this plant from Thailand. I have to say it's the strangest looking flower nothing like my other Catasetum.Name:  cat - 1.jpg

    nice flower, very bold coloration.
    but this is not catasetum pileatum. definitely a hybrid. i do see some expansum gene in this flower as well.
    nevertheless, it is a gorgeous plant

    Can you give me a more accurate name? Any idea what it is closest to in your opinion so that I can change the misnomer.

    You have almost certainly got Cycnodes Wine Delight , possibly the fine clone known as Jem . It has been tissue propagated quite widely. A nice thing, and a lot easier to grow than many other Cats

    that is the problem with hybrids, once the tag is lost it is extremely difficult to get the actual id back. perhaps one day you will meet a friend who had a similar division with id.
