Oh, I absolutely agree. As windowsill space gets tighter, I get pickier about anything new I'm considering.

I was at the New England Flower Show yesterday and my friends all called today and asked how many 'chids I came home with. None. Nada. The vendors that showed brought boring stuff (mostly common phals and paphs with a couple of washed out oncs.) And everything was priced about twice as much as it was worth. I was pretty disgusted.

A visit to a good grower (there's one near my parents in FL, when I can get down there) or careful online selection usually nets a quality plant at a good price. It takes a bit of poking around, but I'm never afraid to call and ask lots of questions.
