I can't call this beautiful, but I do think it remarkable - like all the group of Catasetum and its allies , and I do love it...
I had a lot of problems growing this group, and the penny finally dropped after listening to a talk from the UK National Collection Holder - I was being over-optimistic about the temperature they need. They do grow , even in what we call ( here in chilly old UK) intermediate temperatures , meaning a night minimum of say 55 F, or 12.5 in Celsius, but they don't want to get out of bed in the spring and start growing when it is that chilly - hence they start late, make poor bulbs, and don't flower ; worse , they probably don't ripen bulbs properly, hence rot in the winter...So I made a box of clear acrylic panels in the greenhouse, put some extra heat in there, with a stat set to 20 C , and bingo.....all the survivors and new additions are growing well , and this is the first to flower.
BTW, I reckon Cat Taiwan Gold is the exception - that's the one which is so easy to grow,is not bothered about the cool or cold, and which started me off on this group. Anyone who likes them , that has to be recommended as the one to start with, and incidentally it's by far the easiest ( and least expensive ) to get.

Very cool Lovena. My different color Lovena, in bloom, will be posted later today.

I agree! Some of the Catasetums are only just weird, not necessarily pretty. Yet I still find them attractive.

Nice. Glad you were able to discover what works for getting these to flower in your climate.

I find the catasetum and related an interesting type to grow because they are a little different than what most growers have in their collection. Beautiful in their own unique way.

Blooms on my Lovena should open in the next week or two and I'll post photos. Different color variation - yellow rather than red.
