    Default catasetum macrocarpum

I got this local orchid which is found in forests and sometimes on orange trees, or cocoa trees here on the islands, I got this one on an avocado tree in a friends yard around December, she knows nothing about orchids and did not know that it was one, I got a rhyzome with one leaf which eventually dried and dropped off but I knew that if I had potted it that it would have grown, I put it into a wire basket lined with dried coconut husks, some small stones and coals and noticed it had started growing about a month after to produce this , Name: received_868511356567319a.jpg

I see these at the orchid shows. They are the coolest flowers ever. Lucky you to have it blooming, I can't keep one alive.
