    Default Coelogyne confusa

I don't have the opportunity yet to look up the reason behind the species name. Maybe because it is often confused with Coelogne chloroptera?
Endemic to Camiguin island and adjacent provinces in the island of Mindanao.

A very striking flower, Nelson! I love the way the lip stretches out its arms, whispering, "Come to me, little buggies...come and pollinate me!"

Default Coelogyne confusa Ames ( affinis C. sparsa)

Coelogyne confusa was described by Oakes Ames of Harvard in 1915 in 5th Vol. of Orchidaceae.

I quote Ames found in page 50

" The nearest ally of this species appears to be Coelogyne sparsa Reichb. f. ......... I originally referred the type to C. sparsa Reichb. f."

    Excuse me, Diane,

But in these advancing years - ho hum - one takes it where one can get it.

PS - You'll enjoy this...I pollinated my floofy catt the other morning (I think - no cigars yet!) I spoke to my mother later in the day and she's a pretty straight arrow, so shock effect is always fun. I boasted that I had sex that morning.

She didn't even raise an eyebrow. She said, "What did you do? Pollinate an orchid?" That's a bad sign:that I do, in fact need a life. I couldn't even worry my mother...
